Fish &
Chips – Even the second part of this food was invented by Belgian and got
famous by French, fish and chips is UK’s most famous food. Don’t get me wrong,
I love it but for someone like me who has an Ottoman DNA when it comes to food
basically expect more from a country’s cuisine. Anyway, putting that aside
if/when you come to London, make sure you have fish and chips and mashed peas
aside in one of London’s pubs. I say “pub” deliberately since pub concept is an
increasing star in the UK daily life in food.
Music – I don’t
know if it is the food or the tab water but this country raised one of the greatest
musicians in the world; namely Depeche Mode, Massive Attack, Adele, Placebo...
should I go on? “ it’s enough” I hear you say... And the best thing is that
you hear this music in a grocery shop or in a hair dresser. If you go to grab a
pint of lager in a pub these delicious music will be your side dish. So enjoy
the music in London.
Bridges – I’m
sure when I say bridge you say London Bridge. But I say Tower Bridge, Blackfriars
or Southwark which are prettier than London Bridge. The city has 24 bridges in Thames from Kew Bridge to Tower Bridge. London Bridge is the oldest one in the city but definitely not the prettiest. Since this is the right
place to mention, please visit Southbank when you come to London (not only
London Eye please). Take a walk starting from London Eye to Tower Bridge. This is
totally a different part of London which I love so much.
Shopping –
This is where everyone gets crazy in London. Apart from famous Oxford and Regent
Streets, discover Carnaby Street in Soho or vintage shops in Spitalfields or in
Hoxton. I assure you it is not going to be cheap shopping in London. And when
you think of English reputation in fashion you may think “ayk” but no no no! my
friend... This city dish up lovely stores and its unique street fashion which I’m
sure you will keen- maybe not the whole outfit but shoes and bags definitely...
